About the Hartland Eagle

  Hartland High School’s official newspaper, The Hartland Eagle, consists of a group of journalism students who inform, update, and write articles for other high school students. The Hartland Eagle is a student run organization and a class that takes place during seventh hour.

 

  The 2014-15 Editor-in-Chief is senior Andrew Van Heusden who is in charge of the staff and the print issues. The Online Editor is junior Christine Bowen who takes charge of all aspects The Hartland Eagle website. The newspaper pages editors and designers are seniors Hunter Hawkins (sports co-editor), Morgan Karinen (entertainment), Kayla Kaszyca (in-depth), Brianna Rice (features),Tori Zremski (opinion), and junior Maegahn Wiley (sports co-editor). This years copy editors are senior Elena Espinoza and junior Crystal Schupbach. The Business Manager is freshman Keegan Hoose.

 

  The other members on staff are seniors Elise Beaudreau, Annie Breece, Alexandra Closser, Lyndsey Kuhn, Hayley Mayo, Shelby Snider, junior Kayla Robinson, and freshman Arielle Bliznik. The teacher advisor is English 11 and AP Composition teacher Elaine Bell.

 

  The Hartland Eagle publishes five issues a year, including the special senior issue published at the end of May. In addition, The Hartland Eagle has a website for students to get updates on events and hear opinions of other students.

 

  The goal of The Hartland Eagle is to administer awareness and knowledge to the student body. Staff members have featured teachers, reviewed movies, and shared their opinion on sensitive topics. Members of The Hartland Eagle continue to perfect their journalism skills and publish their stories to peers and adults.


  Produced in a lab setting, the newspaper provides opportunities in developing skills with the coverage of news, features, sports, and entertainment, while offering to the public for the free exchange of ideas on the opinion pages. As a staff we work extra hard to produce a well quality product.
